The giant pandas

THE GIANT PANDAS



The Giant Panda is a bear that lives in the forests of China, it is easily recognized by its black patches around the eyes, over the ears, and across its round white body.



The Giant Panda has a very big body, it measures around 1.5 meters and weighs about 150 kilograms (females are generally smaller than males) and it has a wooly coat that keeps it warm in the cool forests of its habitat.



Another important characteristic is that it has a thumb and five fingers, it is not very usual that animals have thumbs, in fact, only pandas, humans and a few monkeys has.



Although pandas have
the characteristics and genes of carnivores, the 99% of their diet is bamboo. How their body is not made for eating that, bamboo gives them a little energy, so that, they spend their life roaming and feeding in the bamboo forests.
